Finding solace and purpose in music, he joined the school band, using it as a positive outlet to steer clear of trouble.

During his formative years, Matt’s brother, Andrew Perronne, introduced him to the captivating world of brass band music, sparking a deep fascination with the genre. In high school, Matt began honing his skills by playing trumpet for tips in Jackson Square, New Orleans. It was here that his love for music flourished, as he immersed himself in the lively atmosphere of street performances and the rich musical heritage of the city.

In 2020, Matt embarked on his academic journey at Loyola University New Orleans, where he pursued his passion for music. Over the course of four years, he delved deeper into the intricacies of music theory, performance, and composition, enriching his understanding and proficiency in his craft.

Upon graduating from Loyola University New Orleans in 2024, Matt’s dedication and talent caught the attention of the esteemed Dukes of Dixieland.
